Repurposed [SS]

It had awakened in this new world and not a moment had gone by that it found itself witnessing violence. Perhaps it was this violence that brought it into this new world? Magic was capable of a great many things. By the time it regained consciousness, the perpetrator had already disappeared into the dark forest. All that remained was the victim.

It went to investigate the scene of the incident. It was indeed magic, the trace elements around the hideous wounds was still visible, a faint purple glow. The damage was extensive, the red blood having largely gushed out, now slowing to a trickle. The victim appeared dead, the eyes wide open. It reached forward to close the eyes, and the eyes blinked, a gasp for air. Regaining awareness the victim looked around seeing it right in front, the victim's fear turned to dread. Desperately the victim tried anything to move away from it. Why was the victim afraid of it? It had done nothing hostile, in fact, many of it's suitors found it very pleasing. It reach forward to make contact, this was a strange new world. It barely made contact, pulled into her mind adjusting to the world in which she lived. Before he could get a grasp of where she was, she managed to get a good punch in. It managed to shake it off.
"Calm down. You're barely holding on as it is. Do you want my help, or not?"
Clearly she didn't know what to think. Was she dreaming? How had the creature infiltrated her mind? She was an exhausted wreck. "Who...what are you?"
"I can answer your questions, but you are running out of time. I can help, by creating a symbiosis, I can heal your wounds, but you'll have to let me in."
She subtly nodded, or was she fainting? In either case, it had only moments to bond with the girl, it quickly bonded with her. It was taking a huge risk, if she dies, it'll die too.

Looking back into the last few moments before her incident, it could see the events as they unfolded, at least what she saw.

She was a waitress in an aging diner. Working on meager tips, a less than welcoming cook, and non-existent owner. The customers weren't much better. Sexual harassment from them was the norm, but for one with no recommendations of someone within the conglomerate, and no education, her options were limited. She was working with her scraps of a living to work towards college. She wasn't the most attractive, nor the most outgoing of persons. She wasn't used to men really pursuing her actively. She was surprised when an attractive man from across town started courting her. Wasn't sure how to take it. Cautiously, it would not be the first man to approach her for a night of sex(as the diner made her very aware of). It became clear after the first few dates, that he started to win her over. Charming, seemed strangely religious, but it eased her fears on his intentions. This date didn't seem any more strange than the others. Said they were going for a nice walk out in the forest outside town. She met him by his car, and the next thing she remembers was someone coming up from behind, and her fainting.

She awoke with a start, but no one seemed to notice, her lying on a stone table, fires around it. There was a group of hooded persons heads down, chanting something foreign and guttural. It sounded awful, and fearful. A man at the feet of her had a large tome, and his speaking was the most terrible of all. With no noticeable restraints she found an opening, and she took it. Their reaction to her escaping wasn't as quick as she'd have expected, but the distance was greatly appreciated. What was this odd white gown she was wearing? What was she doing on that table? In her panic she hadn't pieced together a sacrifice when she saw it, but she knew they weren't about to cure world hunger. Far enough ahead of the group she stopped to catch her breath, collapsing into a pile, a river of tears escaping. Never had she feared for her life like tonight, not even living in and around so many questionable people. That's when she saw him. He came out in front of her, a bright lightning bolt exploding as he approached her. How could he have deceived her, betrayed her trust so completely? And where did he come from? What was that explosion? So many questions ran through her mind.
"You ruined the ceremony. He was not pleased. Now we will have to find another." He spoke in a demeaning voice. He pulled a dagger from beneath his robes, jagged and rough-hewn. He muttered a ghoulish phrase, as he stepped towards her. A purple glow began and he callously grabbed her by the arm and slashed the dagger down along her face, and through her body. Her body slumped up against a tree as he walked back towards his followers.
-----
She groggily turned over in her bed, looking at the alarm clock. Shit! She was an hour late for her shift at work! She slowly eased out of bed. She felt like a ton of bricks kindly collapsed on her body, like she had ran two marathons(not that she'd know, she was still working on a 5K), like she had gotten shitfaced and blacked out, she was so exhausted getting out of bed was a chore. Had all of that been a dream? Her suitor a cultist? Her evident murder, or the strange abhorrent creature that had made contact with her? It all seemed so juxtaposed to her life, she shrugged it off until she looked down. The white gown...well red now, all the blood saving her modesty by offsetting it with a soaked in a blanket of the dark coagulated covering her chest and face. Oh God. It was all true. But how did she get back here? More importantly, how was she ALIVE?
"I believe, I can answer that." Came a voice in the back of her head.
It was that voice from before, where was it?
"You likely do not remember me joining with you after your incident. I am currently inside of you right now."
"How? How did you do this?" It felt strange talking to herself.
"As I can access your brain, I was able to access your ability to heal. However you were so close to death, that I may need to remain attached to you for you to survive." Sensing her discomfort it added, "I do not like this anymore than you, I value my ability to roam freely. Though that may have been hampered by your species fear of alien creatures as well."
"How did I get home last night?"
"I momentarily took control of your body to walk home last night. Is it normal for these feet to feel such pain on the ground?"
"We usually wear shoes." Looking down at her blood covered feet, "I guess you fixed that too?" What was she doing, talking to odd voices in her head...
She felt an affirmative from the voice, as she headed to the bathroom to wash up. She is going to be in so much trouble with the cook.
"I took the initiative as well to 'call in sick' to your work for you. The cook was not very appreciative, but grudgingly allowed you to go."
It was odd for her to see these visions of her, but not really her flash through her mind, the irritable cook, and her neighbor across the hall and the conversation they...it had with him. "So I see you go back from one of those zombie parties huh? I thought those were dated, most people go for what, mutants or something now?" She-it shook it's head and smiled, "It's been a long night, gotta sleep off this hangover." and went inside her apartment.

While she cleaned up she was able to find visions of what this creature's world was like, what had happened moments before it was pulled over, and what had happened after she had been unconscious. These visions seemed to communicate so much beyond simple verbal communication, she was able to access anything from it's thoughts and memories, and it from her. While terrifying to think of it within her, she started to see the benefits of it as well. The communication, and the strength. Though it seemed to offset her with an equally voracious appetite. After cleaning her face she inspected it looking for some blemish or scar from the nights events, but true to it's word it had done an amazing job, so much so even her acne scars were gone. The only odd point was a glint of purple within her iris and along the knives wound, an apropos trophy for such an event she reasoned. It agreed, apologetic of it's apparent failure, so unaware of this new magic that had scarred her.
The creature pushed for her to report these doings to the police, however they agreed it may not be the best course given societies ignorance to magic. The only other option it seemed was to change her career path to something more suitable to her new cause. This city was about to get a new detective.
